Bushwick, Brooklyn

Every leash has two ends.
Both lead somewhere good.

Pawsability trains dogs — and we train the neurodivergent and autistic adults who work with them, building real careers in the pet care industry, one dog at a time.

Our Story

One club, two paths that were always meant to meet.

Pawsability started as a dog training business in Bushwick. We noticed something simple: dogs don't rush people, don't judge how someone communicates, and reward patience with trust. That made them the perfect partners for teaching workplace skills to neurodivergent and autistic adults.

Today, every dog you bring to us is cared for by someone in our vocational program. Your training session funds their paycheck. Their steady, careful work is why your dog comes home calmer. The business and the mission are the same thing, seen from two sides.

For Program Participants

How the training program works

A steady, four-stage path from first visit to paid employment — paced for each trainee, never rushed.

01

Meet & assess

An easygoing intro visit. No tests, no time pressure — just time with a dog and a coach to see what feels right.

02

Hands-on training

Small groups, quiet rooms, clear routines. Trainees learn handling, grooming, and client care at their own pace.

03

Supervised work shifts

Paid shifts inside Pawsability's own dog business, with a coach nearby and predictable schedules.

04

Job placement

We connect graduates with partner employers across NYC's pet care industry — kennels, groomers, and vet offices.
